What Is the Difference Between Subdomains, Addon Domains and Parked Domains

If you are new to hosting, sometimes it can get confusing when accessing your control panel and presented with Subdomains, Addon Domains, and Parked Domains options. In this article, you’ll have a brief and easy to understand comparison among these three options found in your Hosting Account Manager.

Subdomains A Subdomain is an extension of your main domain. If your site is example.com, then you could create a Subdomain like foo.example.com. This domain does not need to be registered and is not treated as a separate site.
Addon Domains An Addon Domain is a separate domain with its own unique content and own Domain Name. Using Addon Domains allows you to host multiple websites on a single Web Hosting plan. These are treated as separate sites and should have unique themes and content.
Parked Domains A Parked Domain is a domain with a single page that is placed on it if it has no Web hosting or other services attached to it. This page usually simply says that the domain is not currently in use and may include a "Coming Soon" message. Many webmasters park domains to reserve them for future use or to prevent cybersquatting.
