How to Set up Parked Domain Name

Upon purchasing for a Domain Name, typically you’ll have to build a website for it. But, this doesn’t mean you can’t purchase any domains you want for future use. Or leave it ‘parked’. These types of domains are what you call Parked Domains. Parked Domains or Aliases doesn’t necessarily have a website page, these domains can be an additional URLs leading visitors to the same page.

There are different reasons why website owners use Parked Domains. But you can use Parked Domains for the following reasons:

  • To secure common misspellings of your domain name.
  • To register your domain name on different Top-Level Domains (TLDs) like .org, .net, .edu.
  • To purchase domain names for future projects.
  • Purchase domains that you can sell later

And these Parked Domains can be set up in your Hosting Manager. Follow the steps below:

Step 1. Access to your Hosting Manager.
Step 2. From the Home page, scroll to the Domains tab, then click the Aliases option.

Step 3. Under Create a New Alias, enter the domain name you wish to use as an alias in the text box.

Note: Domains must be registered with a valid registrar and configured to point to your DNS servers before they can be used as an alias. If you registered your domain and host it with Crazy Domains, then you’re good to go. However, if you’re using a third party domain registrar, then you need to update your name servers before you can use it as an alias.

A confirmation message will appear once it is complete. Click the Go Back button to return to the Aliases page. Your domain should appear as an added Alias, learn how to delete a parked domain name in this linked guide.
