Pre-Recovery and Post-Recovery commands in Cloud Backup

When recovering data through the Cloud Backup Console, you can specify additional settings by clicking the RECOVERY OPTIONS button before beginning with the recovery. Here you will be able to configure the following:

• Backup validation
• Date and time for files
• Error handling
• File exclusions
• File-level security
• Full path recovery
• Mount points
• Performance
• Pre-post commands
• Windows event logs

To use the pre-recovery and post-recovery commands in Cloud Backup, follow the two separate guides below.

Pre-recovery Command in Cloud Backup

Before the recovery starts, you can specify a command/batch file to be executed by enabling the pre-recovery command. You can do this by following the steps below:

1. Access the Cloud Backup Console.
2. Click Devices on the left menu bar to open the list of all computers/devices connected to the Cloud Backup.
3. Select the machine that originally contained the data that you want to recover, then click Recovery on the right menu bar.
4. Click on the Backup location containing the data you want to recover to display a list of all Backup plans created in that location. Select the specific Backup plan for recovery, then click RECOVER FILES/FOLDERS.
5. Browse to the required folder or use the Search box at the top of the page to obtain the list of the required files and folders.
6. Select the files that you want to recover, then click the Recover tab on the right-hand menu.
7. Click on the RECOVERY OPTIONS button and click Pre-post commands.
8. On the switch, under Execute a command before the recovery, click Yes to enable the option.
9. In the Command or batch file path on the machine with an agent field, type a command or browse to a batch file.
The Cloud Backup program does not support interactive commands, such as commands which require user input like "pause".
10. In the Working directory field, specify a directory path where the command/batch file will be executed.
11. In the Arguments field, specify your command’s execution arguments, if required.
12. Select the appropriate options as described in the table below depending on the results you want to obtain, then click DONE.

SELECTION	RESULT
If both check boxes are selected. (Preset)	The recovery will be performed only after the command is successfully executed and will fail if the command execution failed. If the exit code is not equal to zero, a command is considered failed.
If only “Do not recover until the command execution is complete” option is selected.	The recovery will be performed after the command is executed despite execution failure or success.
If only the “Fail the recovery task if the command execution fails” option is selected.	This option is not applicable.
If both check boxes are deselected.	The recovery will be performed concurrently with the command execution regardless of the command execution result.

Congratulations! You have successfully created a pre-recovery command in Cloud Backup.

Post-recovery Command in Cloud Backup

After the recovery is completed, you can specify a command/executable file to be executed by enabling the pre-recovery command. You can do this by following the steps below:

1. Access the Cloud Backup Console.
2. Click Devices on the left menu bar to open the list of all computers/devices connected to the Cloud Backup.
3. Select the machine that originally contained the data that you want to recover, then click Recovery on the right menu bar.
4. Click on the Backup location containing the data you want to recover to display a list of all Backup plans created in that location. Select the specific Backup plan for recovery, then click RECOVER FILES/FOLDERS.
5. Browse to the required folder or use the Search box at the top of the page to obtain the list of the required files and folders.
6. Select the files that you want to recover, then click the Recover tab on the right-hand menu.
7. Click on the RECOVERY OPTIONS button and click Pre-post commands.
8. On the switch, under Execute a command after the recovery, click Yes to enable the option.
9. In the Command or batch file path on the machine with an agent field, type a command or browse to a batch file.
10. In the Working directory field, specify a directory path where the command/batch file will be executed.
11. In the Arguments field, specify your command’s execution arguments, if required.
12. Select/deselect the Fail the recovery task if the command execution fails check box then click DONE.
• Select the check box if successful command execution is critical for you. The recovery status will be set to Error if the command execution fails.
  If the exit code is not equal to zero, the command is considered failed.
• Deselect the check box if you do not want the command execution result to affect the recovery failure or success.
  The command execution result can be tracked by exploring the ACTIVITIES tab.

Note: If the recovery proceeds with reboot, a post-recovery command will not be executed.
