What Is Domain Name Redemption
Once registered, typical generic top level domains (gTLDs) go through this life cycle:
Registered → Expired → Renewal Grace Period → Redemption → Pending Delete → Released
Your domain name falls into Redemption if it is not renewed within 30-45 days upon Expiry. During this 30 to 45-day Renewal Grace Period, we will be sending you several email reminders to Renew your domain name as soon as possible.
Once the Renewal Grace Period is up and you have not renewed your domain name, it will then undergo a Redemption Period.
Note: The life cycle of a domain name may differ depending on the domain’s governing Registry. For example, some country code domains (ccTLDs) like .IN are given a Redemption Period while .AU domains skip Redemption and move to Pending Delete status right away.
During the Redemption Period, you will be given up to 30 calendar days to Restore your domain name. If you fail to Restore your domain name within the given time frame, it will then be placed on Pending Delete status and eventually be Deleted after 5 days.
How to Restore Your Domain Name

Note: You will need to pay the administrative fees set by the Registry for the restoration and renewal of your domain name.
Once your domain name is Restored back to an Active status, your domain registration will then be extended by 1 year.
How to Avoid Domain Name Redemption
To prevent your domain name from falling into Redemption, make sure to Renew your domain name before it expires or Auto Renew your domain name registration. You may refer to the following guides:
