How to setup android to send and receive Email

Gmail by default is automatically connected when you first use your Android device, however you can also add your website email as a separate account using any email application.

Make sure you have created your email address in the Hosting Manager or Plesk for Windows Hosting, before setting it up on your Android Device.

The following steps were written for the default Mail application on Android. These settings can also be used with any email application, but the setup will be slightly different for each.

Setting up Android email

These are the steps you need to follow to set up your Android device to send and receive email:

Step 1.

On the front screen click the Email icon. If it isn't on the front screen, select the Applications icon in the lower right corner and find it in your applications.

Step 2.

On the Account setup screen enter your Email Address and Password and press Next.

Step 3.

Next screen will give you 3 options, POP3 Account, IMAP Account, or Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync. Most people with a mobile device choose IMAP as it will be able to synchronise to other devices that check the email too.

Step 4.

On the next screen, you need to fill in the fields with your name, server and login information.

Below is a description of the fields:

User Name	Enter your full email address.m
Password	Enter the password you use for this email address.
IMAP Server	Standard settings are mail.mydomain.com (Replace mydomain.com with your actual domain).
Security Type	This is the type of security the phone uses to connect to the mail server. Unless you require a specific setup we recommend the default setting None.
Port	For IMAP, choose port 143. For POP3, choose port 110.

Step 5.

After you have entered the information click Next.

Step 6.

Complete the fields:

Below is a description of the fields:

SMTP Server	Standard settings are mail.mydomain.com (Replace mydomain.com with your actual domain).
Security Type	This is the type of security the phone uses to connect to the mail server. Unless you require a specific setup we recommend the default setting None.
Port	The phone will connect using the default port number 587.

Step 7.

Click Next to continue.

Step 8.

The Account settings screen will display where you can change the settings or keep them as the defaults. When you have finished, click Next.

Step 9.

On the final screen, you can name this account by entering any name you like. This is used to identify the email account on your Android device. When you have chosen a name, click Next.

Congratulations, you have added your email account to your Android device. You should now be able to use it to manage your email account.
