How to select disks/volumes to back up in Cloud
Once you have your Cloud Backup account set up, you can start creating backups of your computers and/or devices and store them in the Cloud. When creating backups of your computer or device, you have the option to back up individual disks, volumes, or specific files and folders, instead of the entire machine.

There are two ways you can select disks/volumes you want to back up:
| Direct Selection | Directly locate the relevant disks or volumes in your computer that you want to back up
Note: This option is only available for physical machines. |
| Using policy rules | Set rules which disks/volumes to back up. The rules can be predefined or created, or a combination of both. |
Direct Selection
To select individual disks/volumes using direct selection, follow the guide below:
- Click Device on the left menu bar, which will open the list of all computers and devices connected to the Cloud Backup service.
- Select the computer/device you want to back up, then click Backup on the right menu, then click Add Backup Plan.
If you don’t have a Backup Plan yet, you will be directed to a New Backup Plan template. - In the What to back up field, select Disks/volumes.
- Click the Items to back up field to open the Specify disks and volumes tab. In Select items to back up, choose Directly.
- Select the relevant disk or volume you want to back up. Then, click OK. This will bring you back to the backup plan display.
- Click Apply to start backing up the selected disk or volume.
Using policy rules
To select individual disks or volumes Using policy rules, follow the guide below:
- Click Device on the left menu bar, which will open the list of all computers and devices connected to the Cloud Backup service.
- Select the computer/device you want to back up, then click Backup on the right menu, then click Add Backup Plan.
If you don’t have a Backup Plan yet, you will be directed to a New Backup Plan template. - In the What to back up field, select Disks/volumes.
- Click the Items to back up field to open the Specify disks and volumes tab. In Select items to backup, click the [ ν ] arrow symbol and choose Using policy rules.
- Next, type in the rule you want to implement or click the [ ν ] arrow symbol to choose among the predefined rules in the list. You can add as many rules as you want.
Note: The policy rules set here will apply to all computers and devices that are in the backup plan.
Also, if no data meets at least one of the rules you have set, the system will not be able to create any backups.

Selection Rules
Below are the types of selection rules you can set for Windows, Linux, and Mac computers for when you are backing up individual disks and/or volumes. You can further refine selection rules by setting file filters.
For Windows
| [All volumes] | Selects all volumes on the computer. |
| Drive letter | Selects the volume with the relevant drive letter. e.g. C:\ |
| [Fixed Volumes (Physical machines)] | Selects all volumes of physical machines, except for removable media. Fixed volumes are the following:

| [BOOT+SYSTEM] | Selects the system and boot volumes. This is the minimally required set of data needed for an operating system recovery. |
| [Disk 1] | Selects the first disk in the computer, which includes all volumes in the said disk. |
For Linux
| [All volumes] | Selects all mounted volumes on the computer. |
| /dev/ |
e.g. volume group name is vg_themachine logical volumes under vg_themachine are:
/dev/vg_themachine/lv_moon |
For OS X
| [Disk 1] | Selects the first disk of the machine, including all the volumes that belong on that first disk.
Note: To select another disk, type the relevant disk number. |
It should be noted that you can recover individual disks, volumes, or files using a disk-level backup. Also, backing up an entire computer or machine means a backup of all that machine’s disks.
