How to select a recovery point by using the Backups tab in Cloud Backup

Backups of all the machines ever registered under a certain account are shown in the BACKUPS tab, including both machines that are offline and are no longer registered in the backup service.

On behalf of any account belonging to a given unit or customer and its child groups, a backup service administrator can view the backups. In Machine to browse from, this account is indirectly chosen. Backups of all machines ever registered under the same account where this machine is registered are also shown in the BACKUPS tab.

Backup locations used in backup plans are automatically added to the BACKUPS tab. A custom folder, for example, a detachable USB device, can be added to the list of backup locations by clicking Browse and specifying the folder path.

Selecting a Recovery Point in Cloud Backup

Here’s how to select a recovery point using the BACKUPS tab:

  1. Access the Cloud Backup Console.
  2. Click BACKUPS on the left menu bar to open the list of all machines registered in the Cloud Backup.
  3. Under Locations, select the location where the backups are stored.
In the selected location, all backups that your account is allowed to view will be displayed by the software. The backups are combined in groups and the group names have the following template:
    <machine name> - <backup plan name>
  4. Select a group from which the recovery of data will be done.
Some backups can only be browsed by specific backup agents. For example, a machine running Agent for SQL must be selected to browse Microsoft SQL Server database backups. In such cases, click the Change option beside Machine to browse from, then select another machine.

Note: Please be aware that the Machine to browse from setting is a default destination when recovering from a physical machine backup. Double check the Target machine setting after you select a recovery point and click Recover to ensure that the recovery is done to this specific machine. To change the destination for recovery, specify another machine in Machine to browse from.

  5. Click Show backups then select a recovery point.

Congratulations! You just selected a recovery point using the backups tab in Cloud Backup.
