How to install the Cloud Backup Agent

Once you have your Cloud Backup account set up, you just need to download and install the appropriate Cloud Backup Agent and you can start uploading backups of your computer or device into the Cloud.

After downloading the relevant Cloud Backup Agent, you can follow the instructions below regarding its installation.

How to install the Cloud Backup Agent

Important Note: Before starting installation process, be sure that your computer or device has a stable internet connection.

Depending on your machine’s operating system (OS), follow the relevant guide below.

Installing in:

Installing in Windows

If your computer or device runs on Windows, you can install the Cloud Backup Agent by following the guide below:

  1. Log on to your computer as an administrator, and start the setup process. You can also simply locate the agent/installation file and start the setup process manually by right-clicking on the file and selecting Run as administrator.
  2. Note: The installation file for Windows will have the .exe file extension.

  3. Click Install and follow any necessary prompts.
  4. Enter the Cloud Backup username and password assigned to your account.
  5. Note: You can find your username and password via your Account Manager. Simply click the Cloud Backup in the menu bar. Then, click the relevant Cloud Backup account you want to check. You will see your credentials in the App Download section.

  6. Windows will automatically detect and use any proxy server that is enabled. However, if you want to modify or check the proxy server host name/IP address and Port, click Show proxy settings. Otherwise, skip this step.
  7. Click Sign In to start the installation.

The program will then proceed with the installation process.

If you want, you can change the installation path and account for the agent service on the first step of the installation wizard. Simply click Customize installation settings.

Additional Notes:

If you are installing an Agent for VMware, please note that you have to specify the address, as well as username and password, for the vCenter Server or stand-alone ESXi host, which the Backup Agent will back up. It is recommended that you use an Administrator user account when performing this.

If you are installing an Agent on a domain controller, please note that you have to specify the user account you want the software to run under. Additionally, the setup program will not create new accounts on a domain controller. This is mainly for security reasons.

Installing in Linux

If your computer or device runs on Linux, you can install the Cloud Backup Agent by following the guide below:

  1. Open a terminal and switch to root user.
  2. Locate the installation file and run it.
  3. Note: The installation file for Linux will have the .bin file extension.

  4. Enter the Cloud Backup username and password assigned to your account. Click Next.
  5. Note: You can find your username and password via your Account Manager. Simply click the Cloud Backup in the menu bar. Then, click the relevant Cloud Backup account you want to check. You will see your credentials in the App Download section.

The program will then proceed with the installation process.

Installing in OS X

If you have an Apple computer, you can install the Cloud Backup Agent by following the guide below:

  1. Locate the installation file, and double-click it.
  2. Note: The installation file for OS X will have the .dmg file extension.

  3. The operating system will then mount the installation disk image.
  4. Next, double-click Install.
  5. When prompted, supply administrator credentials.
  6. Enter the Cloud Backup username and password assigned to your account. Click Next.
  7. Note: You can find your username and password via your Account Manager. Simply click the Cloud Backup in the menu bar. Then, click the relevant Cloud Backup account you want to check. You will see your credentials in the App Download section.

The program will then proceed with the installation process.
