How to Host Multiple Websites

When thinking of starting an online identity, Web Hosting is one of the important services to look for. Next, is the Domain Name, then register it to the Domain Name System (DNS). These three pieces of information is what makes up a website functional and can be available online.

If you’ve started with Web Hosting, hosting one domain works fine. If you plan on having one website only. But if you’re one of the few website owners who have multiple websites and don’t know how to go about hosting them. It is best to get a single hosting account. Having a single hosting account is both beneficial in costs and saves a lot of time.

In this guide, you’ll learn how to Add Domain and host multiple websites under one single hosting account. Then, point the domain to your web hosting.

How to Host Multiple Websites

If you have a Premium Hosting plan with Crazy Domains, then you can host multiple websites with registered domain names in your Web Hosting. To add another domain, with which you can set up a website, in your Web Hosting, follow the steps below:

  1. Click Sign Up / Log In at the top of this page.
  2. Select Hosting Manager from the drop-down menu.
  3. Enter your username and password, and click Log In.
  4. On the Home page, click the word Domains or the [ v ] arrow symbol on the right side.
  5. Click the Addon Domains icon, which is next to the Subdomains icon.
  6. Next page, under Create an Addon Domain, type the domain name of the website you want to host in the New Domain Name field.
After entering the new domain name, the system will automatically input the Subdomain name for you.

Note: If you want a different name, you can change it by manually entering your preferred name in the Subdomain field.

In the Document Root field, the system will also automatically create a directory path inside your hosting space, which by default will have the same name as your domain name.

Note: If you want to rename the default path, you can change it by manually typing the path name you prefer in the Document Root field.

If you want to create an FTP account for the Addon Domain, check the Create an FTP account associated with this Addon Domain. This will open the FTP Account login fields you need to fill out.
  7. FTP Username This is the FTP account name. It will have the new domain name as its default username.

If you want to change it, you can manually enter your preferred username in the text box.
Password This will serve as your authorisation key that will enable you to access your FTP connection. The system will tell you how weak or strong your new password is when you type it in the appropriate fields.

If you find it difficult to make a strong enough new password, you can let the system create one for you.

Click the Password Generator button. In the pop-up box, copy the generated password and paste that in the Password fields.

You can also choose to check I have copied this password in a safe place. Then, click Use Password. This will automatically copy and paste the generated password in the Password fields.

Important Note: Make sure you have actually saved the generated password in a safe and easy to recall place.

Password (Again) This is only for confirmation and should be the same as the new Password you typed above.
  1. Click Add Domain.
Your new domain name will now be added to your Web Hosting account.

Point the Domain to Your Web Hosting

After adding the new domain name to your hosting, you need to update your domain name servers to make sure it points to your Premium Hosting. This is so you can have access to the website you’re going to set up.

If your domain is registered with Crazy Domains, your Web Hosting has been automatically connected to your domain name. Nevertheless, it is still recommended that you make sure your name servers are updated. To update your Name Servers, click the guide below:

If your domain is registered with another provider, you need to make changes to your domain name settings. To do this, you need to log in to their management console and update the Name Servers.

You need to set the same Primary and Secondary name servers as the currently hosted domain.
Set your domain name servers for the new hosted domain to:

  • ns1.syrahost.com
  • ns2.syrahost.com

It should be noted that if you currently have different Name Servers set for this domain and you change them, this may affect other products and services you have set up on the domain.

To find out more about how to implement changes to your domain settings without affecting other products and services connected to it, click the link below:

If you have any difficulties, contact your provider and give them the Name Servers above to set up on your domain name. If you have further problems, you may also transfer your domain to us.
