How to Restore Your Website Backup Files

No matter how familiar you are with managing your Web Hosting account. You can’t tell when something goes wrong. Either in the server network or database, that could cause losing your files. But don’t worry, our Hosting Manager has the proper tools and feature to restore a previous copy of your website files which you’ll learn in this guide.

Important: Restoring your website backup files will only work, once you’ve created a backup copy of your website files. If you haven’t please follow the steps in these linked guides to learn:

If you have backup your website files ready. Continue reading this article to start restoring your website files using either the Backup tool or the Backup Wizard.

How to Restore Your Website Backup Files

Click the corresponding link if you are restoring your website backup files via the Backup tool or via the Backup Wizard.

If via Backup


  1. Access your Hosting Manager.
  2. On the Home page, click the word Files or the [ v ] arrow symbol. Then, click the Backup icon.
  3. Under Partial Backups right side column, go to the section of the website files you wish to restore and click the corresponding Choose File button.
  4. A pop-up window will appear. Locate and select from within your computer the applicable partial backup file you want to upload.
  5. Click the Upload button.

To know the file extensions of each section of your website files, please refer to the table below.

Section of Website Files File Extension
Home Directory .tar.gz
MySQL Database .sql.gz
Email Forwarders .com.gz
Email Filters .yaml.gz

This will take a few minutes, depending on the size of the file. You will get a confirmation that the restoration of the files is successful. Click the Go Back button to the Backup page.

If via Backup Wizard


  1. Access your Hosting Manager.
  2. On the Home page, click the word Files or the [ v ] arrow symbol. Then, click the Backup Wizard icon.
  3. Click the Restore button.
  4. You can choose from these sections of the website files you wish to restore:

    • Home Directory
    • MySQL Databases
    • Email Forwarders & Filters

    Then, click the corresponding button of the section.
  5. On the Final Step page, click on the Choose File button.
  6. A pop-up window will appear. Then, locate and select from within your computer the applicable partial backup file you want to upload.
  7. Click the Upload button.

You can click on the Go Back button to go back to the Backup Wizard page. If you want to restore other sections of your website files.
