You can easily create, delete, rename and edit files within the File Manager. A detailed guide is presented below for your reference.

Create files or folders

  1. Access the File Manager.
  2. Click File or Folder button at the upper-right corner of the page. In the pop-up box that follows, enter a unique file or folder’s name on the appropriate field.

Important: A file name without extension is considered as a text document. Make sure to add an extension if necessary.

  3. Click Create New File or Create New Folder to complete the action.

Delete files or folders

  1. Access the File Manager.
  2. Select files or folder you wish to remove.
  3. Click Delete at the top of the page.

  4. Enter a new name on the field provided.
  5. Click Rename File to proceed.>

Edit files and folders

If you wish to modify your current files, here's a detailed guide to help you do so:

Copy or Move Files and Folders

File manager’s copy and move tools function just the same. The slight difference is the fact that the move tool transfers files from the current directory to the new directory, while the copy tool duplicates the files on both directories.

Here’s a guide to help you copy or move files accurately:

  1. Access the File Manager.
  2. Select the file or folder you wish to copy or move.
  3. Click Copy or Move at the top of the page.
  4. Enter the correct file path on the field provided.
  5. Click Copy File(s) or Move File(s) to complete action.

Upload or Download Files and Folders

Files and folders can come in and out in the File Manager. With this interface, you can always upload and download files if you need to. However, take note that only single upload is supported. If you wish to upload bulk files, we recommend using an FTP client to save time.

Upload files and folders

  1. Access the File Manager.
  2. Click Upload at the top of the page. You will be redirected to a new page.
  3. Tick the box for Overwrite existing files if necessary. Then, select correct file permission before proceeding.
  4. Click Choose File button.
  5. Select the file or folder you wish to upload.

Download files and folders

  1. Access the File Manager.
  2. Select the files or folders you wish to download.
  3. Click Download at the top of the page.

Set File Permissions

Files have access permissions. In such way, the server will know how to handle requests to access files. Access ranges from Read, files are shown to the user; Write, users can modify files, and Execute, users can execute files as programs. Furthermore, users vary from User, the owner; Group, other users on the server; and World, site visitors.

It is important to set file permissions so the server can read web pages and respond to web browser’s requests. Here’s a simple instruction to do so:

  1. Access the File Manager.
  2. Select the file or folder you need to modify.
  3. Tick the appropriate box on every user group to set permission.
  4. The permission number will follow accordingly as you check the box.

Important: Unless a specific script needs special permissions, files should be set to 644 permission while folders are set to 755.

  5. Click Change Permissions button.

Zip or Unzip Files and Folders

Several files can be compressed on a single folder. Additionally, you can extract compressed files. Both ways are possible using the File Manager. A simple instruction is given below.

Zip multiple files

  1. Access the File Manager.
  2. Select the files you wish to zip.
  3. Click Compress at the top of the page.
  4. Select the preferred compression type.
  5. Enter the name on the field provided.
  6. Click Compress File(s) button

Unzip compressed folder

  1. Access the File Manager.
  2. Click the zipped file.
  3. Select Extract at the top of the page.
  4. Enter the correct file path for the files.
  5. Click Extract File(s) button.
