How To Set up an Email Alias in Plesk

An Email Alias is an email address that is associated to a primary email address or main Mail Account. It does not have its own mailbox and, therefore, cannot be accessed on its own via webmail or on any email client. All mail sent to an Email Alias are automatically forwarded to the main Mail Account's mailbox.

For example, if your existing email address is myemail@mydomain.com, and the following email aliases are created for it: account@mydomain.com, help@mydomain.com, and feedback@mydomain.com, all messages sent to these aliases will be forwarded to the existing email: myemail@mydomain.com.

Why Do You Need an Email Alias

An Email Alias is particularly useful when you need a temporary, disposable email address that you need to make public or publish online. As soon as spam starts routing to your main email, you can easily remove the alias and create a new one, thus avoiding the accumulation of spam.

If you've already created a Mail Account in Plesk, you can easily set up an Email Alias for it, with the steps provided below.

How to Set up an Email Alias in Plesk

Create an Email Alias and have it forwarded to your primary Mail Account by following these steps:

1. Access your Hosting Manager.
2. Click Mail from the left-side menu.
3. Under the Email Addresses tab, click on the Email address you would like to create an Email Alias for.
   Emails sent to the Email Alias will be forwarded to this primary address, being its main Mail Account.
4. Click on the Email Aliases tab.
5. On the Email alias field, enter an alias for your email.
   You can click on the Add email alias link below the field provided, to add more aliases for your email account.

   Note: To remove an Email Alias, come back to this step and manually delete the alias or aliases you entered. Once field/s are empty, click OK to save.

6. Click OK to save.
