How To Create FTP Accounts in Plesk

FTP is where you can easily manage your website files like images, videos, website banners, and etc. Upon signing up for our Windows Hosting, automatically an FTP account is set up for you. If you want to create additional FTP account, this guide is for you.

There are a lot of reasons why a Web Administrator will create FTP accounts, one of these is granting access to specific people that is also managing the website. In this article, you’ll learn how to create and delete FTP Accounts in Plesk.

How To Create FTP Accounts in Plesk

Follow the steps below to create an account or multiple accounts with different permissions for FTP in the Plesk panel:

Step 1. Access your Hosting Manager in Plesk.
Step 2. Click Websites & Domains from the left-side menu.
Step 3. Click the FTP Access icon from the options under your domain name.
If you can't find the icon, click the [ v ] Show More option.

Step 4. Click the [ + ] Add an FTP Account button at the top of the page.

Step 5. Under General, complete the following required information:
FTP account name This is the FTP login username.
Home directory This is the specific path (file or folder) that your FTP account will be able to access.
New password This is the FTP login password.
Ensure that the password you set is strong.
Confirm password This is the same FTP login password entered above.

Step 6. Select the type of Permissions you would like to grant this new FTP account.

Step 7. Click OK to save.

You have set up a new FTP account. Repeat these steps to add more accounts.

How To Delete FTP Users in Plesk

You cannot delete the primary FTP user for your hosting account. However, you can delete any of the additional FTP users you have created. Follow the steps below to delete FTP users in the Plesk panel:

Step 1. Access your Hosting Manager in Plesk.
Step 2. Click Websites & Domains from the left-side menu.
Step 3. Click the FTP Access icon from the options under your domain name.

Step 4. Click on the box beside the FTP Account Name that you want to delete.

Step 5. Click the [ x ] Remove button at the top of the page.
Step 6. On the pop-up window, click Yes to confirm.

You have now deleted FTP users in Plesk.
