How to Export Data in Outlook 2010

If you want to create a backup of your email data or are upgrading to a newer version of Outlook, you can follow this guide to export your data.

When you export data from Outlook, the original items are copied to the export file, but are not removed from the current folder. You can export to many different file types, including PST files and delimited text files.

You can export data in Outlook 2010 by doing the following:

Step 1. Open Outlook.
Step 2. Click File and select Open, then click Import/Export.

Step 3. Click on Export to a file, then click Next.

Step 4. Select Outlook Data File (.pst), then click Next.

Step 5. Select the folder you want to export, then click Next.

Step 6. Choose a filename you want to use for the exported data. Click Finish.

Step 7. Add a password if needed. Alternatively, you can leave it blank. Click OK.

Note: To be extra safe and to ensure the local .pst file is not corrupted, it is recommended to perform the task while using Outlook in Web Access, to ensure that the actual data from the server is being exported.
