How to Create a Mobile Friendly Web Application
Our Website Builder uses a responsive framework. That means that your site will look great on any device without any extra effort. In addition to the site being responsive, most widgets will render differently on smartphones.
For example, a Contact Us widget will display a contact form when rendered on a desktop website, but on a smartphone, the same widget will be transformed into a button, which will expand into a mobile friendly contact form when tapped.
Using the Mobile Editor
You can only edit your mobile site in Creative mode. This mode will allow you full control of the mobile version of your site, which will be completely isolated from your desktop site. This means that changes to one will not affect the other.
On the other hand, when you are in Quick mode, the desktop and mobile versions of your site are linked, allowing you only to perform changes on the desktop version while affecting the mobile version as well.
- Click Sign Up / Log In at the top of this page.
- Select Website Builder from the drop-down menu.
- Enter your username and password and click Log In.
- On the top menu click Mobile tab to access the Mobile Editor.
- Click on Switch to Creative mode at the top of the Mobile Editor.
- Assign a name to the new backup. Add a description to remind you why you created this backup.
- Choose one of the following options:
- Edit with Current content
- Make minor changes to already existing content
Build it from scratch
Start from scratch if you would like to create new content for Mobile.
Now that the desktop and mobile versions of your site are isolated from one another, changes to one will not affect the other. You can now manage your mobile site. When you publish, both versions will be published.
It is possible to switch between the 2 modes at any time, simply by click Web and Mobile on the top bar.
Previewing the Mobile Site
To preview your site on a mobile device, follow these steps:
- Click Sign Up / Log In at the top of this page.
- Select Website Builder from the drop-down menu.
- Enter your username and password and click Log In.
- Click the Preview eye icon on the top menu.
- In the Preview screen, select a mobile device (you can preview your site in a landscape or portrait view).
You can also scan the QR code presented in the right side of the preview window with your mobile device to automatically access your site.
