Connect a Domain to Your Website in Website Builder

Connecting a domain to your website establishes your domain as the primary web address for your site. This means that when people access your domain on their web browsers, they will be able to view your website.

Whether your domain is registered here or elsewhere, this guide will help you connect your domain to your Website Builder site.

Option 1: Use the Website Builder Name Servers

The easiest way to point your domain to your Website Builder site is to connect your domain to the following name servers:

  • ns1.syrahost.com
  • ns2.syrahost.com

IMPORTANT
If your email is hosted elsewhere, make sure to add the necessary DNS records of your email service in the Website Builder DNS editor (cPanel) before using the name servers above.

Option 2: Update Your DNS Settings

If you want to keep using the existing name servers of your domain name, follow the next steps carefully:

Step 1: Get your Website Builder IP address.

  1. Log in to your Website Builder cPanel.
  2. Look for the Shared IP Address on the right sidebar and copy the IP Address.

Step 2: Find your DNS Settings.

  1. Access your domain name in your Account Manager and check the current name servers connected to it.

NOTE: If your domain name is registered elsewhere, you can do a WHOis search or contact your domain registrar to know what name servers are connected to your domain name.

  2. Refer to the table below to know where you can add the A records (Website Builder's IP address) of your domain.

Select the location of your DNS settings below to know the exact instructions.

IMPORTANT: You should only have one A record for your main domain and one A record for the www subdomain. Remove irrelevant A records.

    cPanel

By default, the A records in your Website Builder DNS editor (cPanel) is already configured. However, you can use this guide to review the settings to ensure they are correct.

    1. Log in to your Website Builder cPanel.
    2. On your cPanel, scroll down to the Domains section, and click Zone Editor.
    3. Locate your domain on the domain list and click Manage on the right.
    4. Review the existing A records of your primary domain (yourdomain.tld) and the www. You should have the following records:
      Name TTL Type Record
      (yourdomain.tld) 1400 A (Website Builder IP address) ex. 1.23.4.5
      www.(yourdomain.tld) 1400 A (Website Builder IP address) ex. 1.23.4.5

    Help!

Problem: The IP address is not correct.

Solution: You might have changed your A records before. To correct, just click the Edit button on the right side of the record, and change the value of the IP Address. Click Save Record and wait for the changes to take effect.

Problem: The WWW has no A record but has a CNAME record.

Solution: That's okay. Just ensure the CNAME value of WWW is (yourdomain.tld), and the A Record of (yourdomain.tld) is pointing to the IP address of your Website Builder.

    Other name servers (not ours)

The following instructions are generic. If you're having a hard time following it, please contact your Name Server provider for assistance.

    1. Log in to your DNS provider's portal and find the DNS settings.
    2. Add the following A records to your primary domain (yourdomain.tld) and the www:
      Host/Name/Alias Record Type IP Address
(yourdomain.tld) A (Website Builder IP address) ex. 1.23.4.5
www.(yourdomain.tld) A (Website Builder IP address) ex. 1.23.4.5
    3. Save your new DNS settings and wait for them to fully work.

IMPORTANT: Changes to the Name Servers and DNS records within Crazy Domains will take two to four hours to fully work on the internet. However, some ISPs have their TTL duration that could override our maximum DNS resolution time. It may cause the changes to take up to 24-48 hours to fully work.

If your domain is registered through Crazy Domains, your Website Builder has been automatically connected to your domain name.

If your domain is registered with another provider you will need to make changes to the domain name settings. To do this you will need to log into their management console and update the Name Servers.

If you currently have other Name Servers set, you will need to change them. Please note that this will affect any services you have set up on this domain. You can find instructions on how to change the records without affecting your services below.

To connect to our web hosting update the Name Servers to:

    • ns1.syrahost.com
    • ns2.syrahost.com

If you have any difficulties, contact your provider and give them these Name Servers to set up on your domain name. If you have further problems you can always transfer your domain to us.

My Name Servers are already used

If you have services, like email hosting, connected and cannot update your Name Servers, please contact your hosting provider and set the following records in your DNS settings. This should not affect your services.

    Change the A Record:

yourdomain.com (replace with your domain) to point to IP: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX (please contact Crazy Domains to get the IP address needed).

    Change the CNAME Record:

www.yourdomain.com (replace with your domain) should be pointed to yourdomain.com (replace with your domain).
