Cannot Update Name Server

Updating your name server is necessary if you are moving hosting providers. Without the right settings, your email and your website will not work. If you’re encountering this issue this guide is for you. We’ll guide you on how to resolve this.

Symptom

When trying to update your name server, the Nameserver section in the Hosting Manager page is unavailable.

Cause

Changing your Name Server is unavailable if you’re domain is in the process of transferring from another hosting provider. Or another reason why you can’t update your nameserver are the following:

  • Inactive Domain Name
  • Expired Domain Name
  • Suspended Domain Name

Resolution

Here’s how you can fix this:

Check your Domain Status

We recommend doing this if you’re transferring your domain from another hosting provider. Follow the steps below:

  1. Access your Account Manager.
  2. Click Domains at the top menu. A list of Domains with their corresponding Status (e.g. registered, expired, renewal due, transfer pending) on the second rightmost column will be displayed here.

Otherwise, if you only have one Domain Name, you will automatically be redirected to its management page where its Status will also be displayed.

Important: If your Domain Name is not registered with Crazy Domains, you can check the status using any WhoIs tool or by accessing your Domain provider’s Account Manager.

We recommend to renew on time or set it to Auto-renew to avoid losing your domain name. If you need any further assistance, or if you have any questions. We’d love to help!
